About the Author

Charles F. Haanel
Charles F. Haanel
Charles Francis Haanel was a noted American New Thought author and a businessman. He is best known for his contributions to the New Thought Movement through his book The Master Key System.

Hannel's book The Master Key System, was published in 1912, when he was 46 years old. It is written in the form of a course in New Thought, mental development, financial success, and personal health. The book was heavily promoted in the pages of Elizabeth Towne's New Thought magazine The Nautilus. By 1933 it had sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Haanel practiced the financial principles he preached and was a self made success who owned several major companies. According to Stevens, writing in 1909, "He was president of the Continental Commercial Company, president of the Sacramento Valley Improvement Company, and president of the Mexico Gold & Silver Mining Company."

The original Master Key System contained 24 parts or modules of study. The allegedly "lost" chapters of the Master Key System, chapters 25-28, which are found in some editions, are not original, but have been copied from the chapters 11-14 of A book about You. Among the key points of Haanel's system are what he refers to as the laws of concentration, attraction, and harmonious thinking and action. Unique to the Master Key System is a set of exercises that accompany each chapter, and which are systematically building upon each other — they are what makes the Master Key System a system.

In addition to the Master Key System, Haanel wrote several other books including Mental Chemistry, published in 1922, The New Psychology, published in 1924, A Book about You, published in 1927, and The Amazing Secrets of the Yogi, co-authored with Victor Simon Perera and published in 1937.

In 1919, Napoleon Hill wrote Haanel a letter thanking him for The Master Key System.[8] In the letter Hill stated, "My present success and the success which has followed my work as President of the Napoleon Hill Institute is due largely to the principles laid down in The Master-Key System."

Haanel was quoted in the best-selling self-help book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, published in 2007.

Questions & Answers

The 'Master Key' is a system of thought and philosophy, originally published as a correspondence course by Charles F. Haanel, that aims to unlock cosmic intelligence for personal development and success. It teaches that the mind is a creative force capable of shaping one's reality. By understanding and harnessing this power, individuals can achieve their goals and desires.

The Master Key System emphasizes the importance of positive thinking, visualization, and concentration. It suggests that by focusing on positive thoughts and visualizing desired outcomes, one can manifest those goals in the physical world. The system also teaches the principles of the Law of Attraction, which states that like attracts like, and the importance of aligning one's thoughts with the universal mind for personal growth.

By practicing the exercises and principles outlined in the Master Key System, individuals are encouraged to develop mental strength, clarity of thought, and a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. This, in turn, is believed to lead to personal success, happiness, and fulfillment.

The book "The Master Key System" proposes that the power of thought can be harnessed to manifest desires and achieve success through understanding and applying the principles of the subconscious mind and the Law of Attraction. It emphasizes the importance of controlling thoughts, visualization, and concentration to align oneself with the Universal Mind. By visualizing and idealizing desired outcomes, one can attract the necessary conditions and experiences to bring those outcomes into reality. The book also highlights the significance of positive thinking, self-awareness, and the development of mental power to overcome obstacles and achieve personal and professional goals. It suggests that through knowledge, courage, and faith, individuals can tap into their inner power and create the life they desire.

The subconscious mind plays a crucial role in personal development and achieving goals. It serves as a storehouse of memory, intuition, and instinct, guiding our actions and thoughts without conscious effort. It is responsible for the regular functions of the body, like heartbeat and breathing, and is the seat of habit, allowing us to perform tasks automatically. In the context of achieving goals, the subconscious mind is where we plant our thoughts and desires, which then influence our actions and behaviors. By controlling our conscious thoughts and directing them constructively, we can harness the subconscious mind's power to manifest our goals. This process involves visualization, repetition, and belief in the subconscious's ability to bring our thoughts to reality, ultimately leading to personal growth and the realization of our objectives.

The book "The Master Key System" by Charles F. Haanel extensively discusses the Law of Attraction, emphasizing its role in shaping one's life and achieving goals. It posits that thoughts are creative energy and the key to attracting what one desires. The book suggests that by focusing on positive thoughts and visualizing desired outcomes, individuals can manifest those goals in reality. It encourages readers to cultivate a mindset of abundance, power, and harmony, as these thoughts will attract corresponding conditions and experiences. The application in daily life involves consistently practicing visualization, affirmations, and concentration to align one's thoughts with their goals, thereby leveraging the Law of Attraction to create a life of abundance and fulfillment.

"The Master Key System" by Charles F. Haanel emphasizes the development of mental power and personal growth through understanding and harnessing the power of thought. Key principles include:

  1. Mind as Creative Energy: Recognize that thoughts are creative and shape our reality. Mind is the source of all power and can be used to attract desired outcomes.

  2. Universal Mind: Understand that the individual mind is connected to the Universal Mind, which is a source of infinite wisdom and power.

  3. Concentration and Visualization: Practice concentration and visualization to focus thoughts and create mental images of desired goals, which will manifest in the physical world.

  5. Faith and Confidence: Develop faith in the power of thought and one's ability to achieve goals, leading to confidence and courage.

  6. Law of Attraction: Use the Law of Attraction to draw experiences and circumstances that align with one's thoughts and desires.

  7. Self-Improvement: Continuously work on self-improvement, including developing willpower, memory, insight, and emotional control.

  8. Application of Knowledge: Apply the principles learned in practical ways to transform thoughts into actions and achieve desired results.

By following these principles and practices, individuals can develop their mental power, achieve personal growth, and create the life they desire.
